Flight time (block time)
Licence & logbook
← All glossary terms
For aeroplanes, EASA flight time is measured from the moment the aircraft first moves to take off until it comes to rest after landing. It is the basis for logbook entries and licence requirements.
- German term
- Flugzeit (Blockzeit)
Logbooks record date, aircraft, departure and arrival, times, landings and function (PIC, dual, instructor). Accurate entries are required for revalidations, recency and licence upgrades.
In practice
Log immediately after the flight — reconstructing times later causes errors.
