← All glossary terms
For VFR aeroplane flights by day, Part-NCO requires enough fuel to reach the destination plus a final reserve of at least 30 minutes at normal cruising altitude; at night, at least 45 minutes.
- German term
- Kraftstoffreserve (VFR)
Add taxi fuel, contingency for wind and routing changes, and fuel to an alternate if you might need one. Reserves are for the unexpected, not for planned flight time.
In practice
Define a personal 'land now' fuel figure and divert before you reach it.
