Navigation log (PLOG)
Flight planning
← All glossary terms
A navigation log is the written plan for a VFR flight: legs, headings, distances, times, altitudes, frequencies and fuel. It is the reference you fly with and update en route.
- German term
- Flugdurchführungsplan (Navigation Log)
Wind correction turns true course into heading, and groundspeed gives leg times and fuel burn. Entering actual times at each turning point lets you spot deviations early.
In practice
Keep the log simple enough to read in turbulence and note the frequencies in the order you will need them.
